Privacy policies for AI photo apps use a handful of terms that decide what happens to your selfie: biometric data, training, retention, deletion and third-party processors. Knowing them takes five minutes.
This defines each term and shows how Pose AI's policy answers it.
Our privacy policy explains this in full.
- Biometric data: face geometry extracted to generate your image; Pose uses it only for your output and does not sell it.
- Training: using your data to improve AI models; Pose says it does not.
- Retention: how long data is kept; Uploads and generated content are kept until you delete them, you delete your account, or a retention schedule applies: 90 days after a paid subscription ends, or for accounts inactive 90+ days without a subscription, with at least 14 days' email notice first.
- Deletion: delete your account in the app to remove associated data.
Terms defined
Biometric data is information derived from your face, such as geometry. Training means feeding your data into a model to improve it. Retention is how long data is kept and what ends that clock. Deletion is the action that ends it. Processors are other companies, such as hosting providers, that handle data for the service.
A worked example: Pose AI
Pose AI's privacy policy states that it does not use your personal data to train AI models or create other AI products, and does not sell biometric data. Uploads and generated content are kept until you delete them, you delete your account, or a retention schedule applies: 90 days after a paid subscription ends, or for accounts inactive 90+ days without a subscription, with at least 14 days' email notice first. Data is hosted on Amazon Web Services; the policy is direct that no security measures are perfect.
Reading the answer
| Term | Good sign | Warning sign |
|---|---|---|

| Retention | Stated periods and triggers | Indefinite |
| Deletion | In-app, honoured | Email-only, unclear |
Specific, checkable statements beat reassuring adjectives.
