"Motion Control" and "pose transfer" get used almost interchangeably, but one is a product feature name and the other is the underlying technique — worth separating before comparing tools by either term.
- Motion Control is Pose's own feature name for directing camera movement (Kling) and subject motion (SeedDance) during video generation.
- Pose transfer is the broader technical term for mapping a reference movement or position onto a subject — SeedDance's motion-transfer capability is Pose's implementation of it.
- Use Motion Control when you want camera direction as well as subject motion in one generation; pose transfer specifically refers to the subject-motion half, driven by a text description or a reference clip.
Motion Control, defined
Motion Control is Pose's feature for directing movement in a generated video. It covers two things: camera movement (push-ins, pans, orbits, handled by Kling) and subject motion (walking, gesture, dance, handled by SeedDance) — both generated as part of the same pass, with identity lock keeping the subject consistent.
Pose transfer, defined
Pose transfer is the general technique of mapping a reference pose or movement onto a different subject — either from a described action or a supplied reference clip. It's not a Pose-specific term; it's used across the AI video field. SeedDance's motion-transfer capability is Pose's implementation of it, and it's the mechanism behind the subject-motion half of Motion Control.
